Ezio Nails

Hello again =)
Posing on my leopard print handbag, the little rascal

Is there anything easier to find on the interwebs than cats? Cat movies, cat memes, cat nail art?

I have joined the craze! It was time to pay tribute to our geeky Assassin =)

Here he is, the inspiration for this nail art ->

Unfortunately he wouldn't pose like this for me as I was doing my nails, so I had to draw him from memory.

And here are my Ezio nails. As always- click to enlarge =)

The base is Catrice Steel My Heart. This is a brushed metal effect, you can see this if you enlarge the above pictures. I didn't like it all that much when I first wore it but it worked quite well as a base for Ezio =)
Black & white are stripers. The eyes are Boujois Lime Catwalk. CATwalk =D

Have you ever done any animal nail art? Or even pet nail art? =)

Mum's Accent Leopard

First up let me apologize for the quality of the picture. I have been having some trouble with my camera. I hope this will be fixed soon =(

My mum and younger sister visited us a while back =) It was lovely to finally be able to show them were we live. It's a 2,5 hour train journey each way, so unfortunately we don't see each other as often as we would like.
Usually I go to see them and do their nails using their polishes, or maybe I will bring a couple. This time, they had a choice of all my 125 polishes which was a bit overwhelming ;-)

Leopard nail manicure
Mum's new mani
My mum picked Essence Grey-t to be here as a base. It'ss a creamy grey with a pink shimmer. As you can see, the shimmer is real delicate but it did show in real life.

Even before my mum chose a colour I wanted to do a leopard. By doing it as an accent nail, she accepted it without protest =D I hope she kept it for a few days =)

What do you think? Lovely and understated or bland and boring?

I used: Essence Grey-t to be here, Rimmel Grey Matter, Essie Licorice

Valentine NAC Day 10: Inspired

Pretties,

it's Day Ten of the Valentine Nail Art Challenge! Can you believe it's over?

For today the challenge was to do a mani that was inspired by one of the other participants. Wow, it was so hard to pick from all the gorgeous mani's =)

I decided to 'recreate' the Hearts mani from Rachael over at Racho's Nail Love:

Find her mani here.

This is what I made:

I loved how Rachael had struggled with the theme, then managed to find a way to incorporate the hearts into a mani that would still be true to herself. Kudos!
As you can see, I used slightly different colours. Also, my nails are way shorter ;-)

Well. That's it for this challenge. I had so much fun! And just a bit of frustration ;-) Thanks to datyorkLOVES for hosting this challenge =)

Don't forget to check the final entries for this challenge. The link thingy closed, so check out the links at Day 9 for more entries that might have been posted after it closed.

Valentine NAC Day 9: Ombre or Gradient

Just a quick post for Day 9: Gradient I did a gradient of two purples, finished with a coat of Fantasy Fire and a little heart.

I might add more text and pics to this post later- right now I just want to clean my nails and do the last prompt :-)

Valentine NAC Day 8: Splatter

Pfew, Day 8! And it's February 12th today, which means I have two days and two mani's to go. Thankfully I love gradients so that shouldn't be too hard. Shouldn't.

Anyway, the gradient mani is tomorrow. Today means Splatter. I had never ever done a splatter mani before. I YouTubed a tutorial, put cling foil over my mum's kitchen table, dipped my mum's finger tips in Vaseline and got to work.

Splatter mani- gone wild!
Base for this mani are four 'squares' of different colours; minty green, hot pink, lavender and orange-red. I splattered over those colours with silver and mother-of-pearl polishes.

My mum absolutely hated it.

Wouldn't leave the house with it. So we didn't really bother with proper clean up. I thought the effect was quite interesting so I am going to experiment with this some more. Yay!

Valentine NAC Day 6: Dotticure

Day 6! We're getting there. I am desperately trying to catch up actually, but I will not fail this challenge *shakes fist violently in the air*
Day 6 means Dotticure. I suck at dotticures. I don't know why but my dots are never regular. I have a pretty good dotting tool, so I guess we can only put it down to impatience. Le sigh.

As you can see, Day 6 also brings us the return of the Spongebob Ball (plus here) ;-)
From the pictures it looks slightly like the purple hearts have holes in them, they don't. I suppose the colours were just too much a like in the sunlight =)

I used: Maybelline Ocean Blue, NYC Supernova, Cybele purple
Model: GA Suze

Don't forget to check out the other Valentine Dotticures:

Valentine NAC Day 7: Tape Mani

Pretties! It's Day 7, Tape Mani.

Tape mani's are not something I do very often. Hardly ever, in fact. But that's why I love these challenges; they make you do things you normally wouldn't! Like tapi mani's or *gasp* Splatter Mani's, which is Day 8...

I spent the weekend at my mum's. She was kind enough to let me do her nails =D So, here is my Tape Mani for Day 7 of the Valentine Nail Art Challenge:

I really regretted using the nail art glitter (a birthday present from GA Suze) because it meant the lines weren't all that crisp. But the overall look was pretty =) I was very happy with the heart, it really did look better taped than freehand lol.

I used: Essence Go Bold!, Essence Better Than Gel top coat, Etos nail art glitter

As always, don't forget to check out the other participants:

Birthday Mani

Hi pretties,

so, as if the stress of the Valentine Challenge and baking 36 cupcakes wasn't enough, I had to do a birthday mani, of course. I didn't have time to do any nail art so I went for the next best thing; glitter!

To my surprise, Rimmel Diamond Dust was just as matte and textured as OPI Get Your Number, which is a so-called Liquid Sand polish. I don't know if this is a good or bad thing!

I'm not going to smear any top coat on it because tonight I'll be doing the next prompt for the challenge. Yikes.

BTW, when I got to work and unpacked the cupcakes, I realised my Geek had secretely finished decorating them after I went to bed <3
He even put one in my lunchbox:

Isn't that cute?!

I used: OPI Get Your Number, Rimmel Diamond Dust

Valentine NAC Day 5: Lace or Fabric

Day 5 of the Valentine Nail Art Challenge, yippie! And it brings us: Lace or Fabric. Ooooh!

On to the mani. This was an all-round fail. I came home last night at 7 and had to do this mani, take pics, have dinner, bake and decorate 36 cupcakes (did I mention it's my birthday today?), do a birthday mani and be in bed by 10! So, yikes!

The theme was Lace or Fabric and I went for a bit of a naughty interpretation... The accent nail is the upper leg part of a lady wearing suspenders.

Kids, look away!

I used: Rimmel Bare Necessities (how apt!), NYC Rock Muse, Etos striper

As always, check out the other ladies doing this challenge:

Valentine NAC Day 4: Love Letter

How is everybody keeping up? Still having fun?

Today I bring you Day 4: Love letter. Another fun theme! Here is my mani:

love letter manicure
Love letter nails

valentines day nail art

Yup, I went there. I wrote a love letter to nail polish. It seemed fitting =)

I used: l'Oreal Colour Riche 602 Perle de Jade, Essie Blanc, l'Oreal Colour Riche 502 Purple Disturbia, Etos black striper, Sakura Pigma seinsei pen (0.4mm), Essence Better than Gel top coat

Valentine NAC Day 3: Kisses

Yup, Day Three already!

Day 3 means: Kisses. Naturally, the first thing that came to mind were lips, lip prints etc. However, I wasn't quite happy doing the first thing that came to mind so I thought some more and this is what I came up with =)

I used: Herome W.I.C Perm, Etos black striper

Apologies for just one pic. It was a pain to photograph as the black kept reflecting any light source, breaking up the design. I hope you can still see what it is meant to be.
Also, I know my nails are not shaped at all, I was going to grow them to file them straight, but I think I'll do something else. Just can't figure out what. The problem is that my left index finger keeps chipping so as much as I love the nail shape like it was here, it never lasts long.

I thought my entry for day three was a lovely and subtle Valentine's mani! I can't wait to see what the others have done, be sure to check them out:

Valentine NAC Day 2: Hearts

Day two of the Valentine Challenge! And the theme for day two is: hearts. Yay! You can't go wrong with hearts =D

I actually did this mani over the weekend but didn't manage to post so I'll be posting day two and three today =)

Check out my subtle but glam twist on the classic French mani.

The purple is L'Oreal Colour Riche Purple Disturbia. I am really impressed by the Colour Riche polishes. I've only had two 'misses', the others are gorgeous <3 They are fairly pricey (6,10) for the small size (5ml), but we often get promotions like 1+1 free. Last week it was 3 for 10,- =D

I used: Essence A Piece of Forever, L'Oréal Colour Riche Purple Distubia

Valentine Nail Art Challenge Day 1: Red or Pink

Whoop whoop, it's challenge time again!

This time I've joined the Valentine Nail Art Challenge hosted by the lovely Dahlia over at datyorkLOVES. There are ten prompts to complete before February 14th, so there is nothing lazy about this challenge! It still gives me some space to skip a day wihtout falling behind schedule, so I think I should be able to handle it. Can't wait to see all the entries in this challenge!

Day 1 meant pink or red. I gave you a sneak peek by posting Woodstock last Friday. Here is the finished mani! I was going for cutesie, but I think it looks more like I wanted to do something but couldn't quite do it. But My Geek thought it looked really cool, so maybe I'm just being a bit hard on myself =)

I used: Urban Decay Woodstock, Etos black striper

Be sure to check back tomorrow for Day 2: Hearts <3

Fancy Studs AT LAST!

Pretties!

How do you feel about 3D nail art, stickers and studs? I love the possibilities and have been looking for studs for absolute ages. Finally I have found a set, in a funky, old-fashioned drug store in our part of town. I am so happy!

I tried them out as soon as we got home. Because they were more pricey that I had hoped, I was really hoping the quality would not be a let-down.
I love to combine bold and neutral, so I went for a greige and gold studs.

Kiss studs stickers nail
Miss Fancy Pants +studs

Close up

Sorry for posting two such similar pictures.

These are the studs. As you can see, they are from the brand Kiss. I have good and bad products from Kiss, this seems to be a winner =)
They are stickers. The edges on the square stood out a bit but I fixed that with top coat.

For this mani I used three coats of Essie Miss Fancy Pants, the studs and two thick coats of Essence Better Than Gel top coat.

And now it's time for a confession: one of my previously posted nail arts was one from the archives. I kept my nails like this for no less than four days! I lost no studs and the polish only chipped on my right thumb <3

Can't wait to use these babies again, get the set if you see it somewhere!

I used: Essie Miss Fancy Pants, Kiss Nail Artist metallics (stickers), Essence Better Than Gel top coat

Urban Decay Woodstock

Ladies and gentlemen; meet Urban Decay Woodstock.

Woodstock, you hurt my eyes with your prettiness <3

I can not believe I have had this polish for just under three years and never, ever worn it before. I was shocked at how neon it was! I just had to show it to you.

You may or may not remember me using the OPI neon mini's for my neon water marble and the cracked neon skittle. If you're not familiar with those, you apply a white base, then two coats of the neon polish and then a top coat.

I was going to do a pink water marble for the first prompt of the new Valentine Nail Art Challenge hosted by datyorkLOVES (more about that later today =D) and decided to use this as a base. I was just blown away by it! You guys, this is one coat. One coat. No white base, no top coat.

Woodstock was part of Urban Decay Summer of Love mini kit which was released in Spring 2010. I'm real bummed now that it's a mini as I can see myself wearing this all the time come summer =D

Have you ever been real surprised by an untried? Have you ever had an untried this long?

Be sure to check back later for the Valentine Challenge =)
