Super Easy Nail Art: Brick Lane Gradient

Happy Monday pretties! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Another super easy mani for you today. Super easy but quite fetching, I think!
I have written about Nails Inc Brick Lane before. I love how easy it is to change your entire mani with just a splash of it. For this look I first did a gradient of grey and blue, then added one coat of Brick Lane. I love this look! I think it's good all year round.

Mini Review: Darling Diva G-Spot

Oh lord. This is going to get me some strange hits through Google...

Anyway. As you may have guessed from 'my' prize in the Pink & Polished giveaway, I love Darling Diva polishes. I think they are fantastic quality and don't look like your average indie. I know, that sounds dumb, there is no 'average indie', but it's just how I feel. Hard to explain.

Some time ago I found this little gem, G-Spot. I just had to have it! I love a naughty polish name and it looked amazing. I ordered it and when it arrived, it was everything I expected and more <3 So vibrant!

For your reference, this was the picture on Etsy.

Below pictures are four thin coats. I don't mind this as much as I do with other polishes, because it means it's easy to get the glitters and stuff where you want them. No fishing required.

Any lumpiness is optical illusion or the shape of my nails. The polish is perfect.

Look at that pretty bottle <3

I know, it doesn't need any spicing up, but the Halloween-lover in me is already moving towards some 'darker' mani's. This is a gradient with l'Oréal Scarlet Vamp.

Purple Passion

Pretties, it's time for another super easy nail art!

Thumb: Hema purple shimmer polish & Nails Inc Graffiti Brick Lane
Index: gradient of Hema purple shimmer polish and Hema pale purple holo
Middle: Hema pale purple holo
Ring: gradient of both Hema polishes, topped with Brick Lane
Pinky: reverse gradient of both Hema polishes

This mani was done within 5 minutes (the Hema polishes dry really quickly) and the effect is quite dramatic!

This is the darker, not holo purple polish I used. It was a gift from friends =)

NOTD: Rock Pink

First off, let me apologize. The next couple of posts will have dreadful pictures =( I'll just make them small ;-)

This is a hot pink mani with some added Rock&Roll. It's not what I am sporting right now, I'm slightly behind. This means there is a lot more to come =D
Click to enlarge. If you must...

As you may remember, I got Nails Inc Bling it On Rebel set during Sephora's clear out sale, so I added a leather accent nail, a stud and a crystal. This all came in the set.

For the index finger, I tried a gradient with NYC Rock Muse. Didn't really work out.

I have to say, I was amazed by the lasting power of the Nails Inc glue that came with the set. Whereas the leather polish chipped within hours, the studs lasted no less than a week! I had to incorporate them in all my manis.

I made the leather polish last longer by doing a mini sandwich (one coat leather, one coat top coat, two coats leather). So neat when little tricks like that work out!

Thank you for keeping following my blog even now there is not a lot of nail art going on. I promise that after the peak season is over, I'll get back to it! Even if it's just for me, I love doing challenges and I miss it. So don't give up on me just yet.

Pastel gradient with cat accent nail

Pretties. It's time for some CAT NAIL ART!

The other day I was searching Pinterest for some inspiration. I came across this pin and thought it was the cutest! But, I had to change it slightly to make it more me.

Cute or what?
It led to a weird conversation with my boss though. It went like this.

'Your nails look very subtle today.'
'Pretty, eh?'
'I didn't say that. Actually, it kind of looks like you are not wearing any polish at all and...'
'.... the green is mould?'
'Yeah...'

Hrmpf.

So, just not to end this post on a grumpy note, here is a picture of Ezio, who has picked up some fascinating new interests recently. Aka since being 'snipped'. Enjoy!

I used: Golden Rose 83, L'Oréal Colour Riche Perle de Jade, Essie Licorice, Hema white polish (no name).

NOTD: Teal Loves Aluminum

Pretties,

a while back I swapped a Nails Inc polish. Then, a week or so after, Sephora had their big closing sale where one of the polishes I picked up was OPI Ski Teal We Drop. Man, is that the hardest polish name or what?! Anyway. I have finally gotten around to combining them in a quick and easy manicure =)

Please note the teal reflecting on my ring finger! Cambridge Terrace is insane, shiny like a mirror <3

Stolen Snowman Mani

It's been snowing like crazy these past two weeks, so finally it felt like it was time for the Snowman mani I stole from the lovely Kristine over at Pink & Polished. Her mani was the December 9th prompt for the 12 Days of Christmas challenge. I loved it so much that I have been wanting to do this ever since =) She encouraged me to do it, so, here it is, at last =D

My take on the design
The original design by Kristine

As you can see, my version is the lazy girl's take on the design ;-)

And here is a bonus picture of Ezio being all suspicious about the first snowfall of the year:

More new polishes +glitter gradient

Honestly? My sister rocks =) Of course we don't see eye to eye all the time but hey, she gives me the polishes she no longer fancies. Ha! This weekend the score was two purples and two glitters. YES!
I used the glitters for this:
Seriously, this is so amazing, I can't stop staring at it. It frustrates me to no end that it doesn't photograph at all.
It's two coats of L'Oréal Sky Fits Heaven, two coats of Max Faxtor Fantasy Fire and a gradient of the two Etos glitter polishes. There is just so much going on on this nail <3

Top: Oh my Glitter! Bottom: Elves Like Lilac
The purples were both Essence polishes. One was from the Fantasia LE, don't you just love when someone gives you retired polishes? On top of that, it is named Elves Like Lilac, I love funky names like that.
As you can see, even though they are both lavender-y, Oh my Glitter! has a pink shimmer whereas Elves Like Lilac has a blue shimmer. Will try to do a comparison post soon.

Also, it has come to the point where I had to buy a new Ribba (seen in My Stash). I now have four 55cm Ribba's plus one spare. This means I have to organize my polishes all over again. Oh, listen to me, pretending this will be such a tedious task! I will probably love every second of it.
I made myself promise I would count them (and quickly chucked a gooey top coat, you never know, it could have been the straw that broke the camel's back), so, yikes.
Look for new stash pictures somewhere next week =)

Christmas Gradient: Bloody Talons

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY!

I hope you had a great one and are not missing any fingers. I know I'm grateful the fireworks have pretty much stopped, as Ezio was one sad little kitty =( And I know the dogs back home must have been pretty scared as well.

As mentioned in the I'm BACK post, my mother asked me to do her nails a couple of times in Egypt. We had brought about 20 polishes between us plus I bought some there, so it was no problem ;-)

We started with a Christmas mani. Will post that one later. Then we did a gradient:

Bloody Festive Talons

She choose the colours herself and asked for a gradient. Sadly, as much as I loved this gradient, she didn't. She said it looked too bloody for her. Like she scratched and killed someone. I thought it wasn't all that bloody because the red was a gorgeous shimmer and it looked very festive combined with the gold.
She kept it anyway to see if it would grow on her, so kudos.

I snapped this picture on the beach, because is there any better lighting then this? <3

I used: Etos Long Lasting gold 001, Cybele 118 Fire Wave, Essence Better Than Gel Topcoat

Metallic Gradient

I did this mani on my mum. She's slowly discovering nail art, and now she wanted me to do something that she could do herself next time. So I went with the super easy, always fantastic looking gradient. I explained it to her as I did it and we're both confident she'll be able to do it herself. Can't wait to see the results!
Already I am quite proud to see her with these nails!

How cool is the Spongebob she is posing with? Lol. It belongs to my nephew.

I chose to combine these two colours as I wanted to do something somewhat bold. Not pale blue -> blue or something like that. I let her choose between three colour combinations and this is what she picked. I think it looks quite festive =)

I used: NYC Full Metal Jacket and a wine red metallic NYC colour, of which I have forgotten the name =(

Lazy 15 Day Two: Gradient

Hello again, day two of the Lazy 15 Challenge. I can't wait to see what all the others have come up with =)

Like I promised, I did not use the Day One half gradient as the mani for today. I love gradients so I was more than happy to do another one.

I thought about doing clashing colours, I really want to try that. But as I kept staring at my stash, trying decide which colours to pick, three other colours just jumped into my hands so I had to go with them.

As a base I used Rimmel Sky High. It's looks so much better then it does in the bottle <3
Then I sponged Rimmel Bright Back at You and Essence Show Your Feet: In The Jungle on for the gradient. In the Jungle is actually a toe nail polish - the bottle says it's 'antibacterial, extremely long lasting and gives great coverage in just one coat'. I have only used it once on my toes and it was fantastic, but one test is not enough for me to be confident enough to endorse the claims. But, just thought I'd mention it.

Be sure to come back Wednesday for Day Three: Dots! I have something cool planned, hope it will turn out right.

Lazy 15 Day One: Tape Mani

Hi!

Today is the first day of my first challenge, whoop whoop! And if that weren't exciting anough, it's the Tape Mani, which is also a first for me! So, here it goes:

Purple gradient nails
Purple prettiness, no flash, daylight

Purple prettiness and Queen Bee, no flash, artificial light

As always, *click* to enlarge

I covered one half of each nail with tape. Then I sponged my gradient on. I applied the polish on a sheet of plastic then picked it up with the sponge, rather than applying it directly on to the sponge itself. But that's just the technique I prefer.

As you can see, I had some trouble finding the middle of my nails so I placed the tape slightly off on some nails. But all in all, the effect is quite cool and it's not like anyone is going to be measuring both sides. At least, I hope so...

And before you ask, no, I am not cheating and using this as the gradient mani for Monday ;-) I just really like gradients =D I'm sure others will post insanely delicate tape manis +( But, I'm just gettiong started, please bear with me.

Ultraviolet and Tomorrow Never Dies are both such amazing colours. I love them both and I was very happy to see they combined well! I only lost the amazing shimmer Tomorrow Never Dies has, but that was to be expected in a gradient.

That's it for Day One, check back Monday for the Gradient Mani!

I used: Rimmel Ultraviolet, OPI Tomorrow Never Dies, Essence Gel Look top coat

And don't forget to check out the other Lazy 15 guys and gals, I've been checking these blogs pretty much every hour since yesterday, haha! You can find the list after the jump:

YAY Germany!

October 3rd is the Day of German Unity. Pretty big deal! And since I have German heritage, I thought it would be acceptable to break my no-buy month in order to buy a polish from the Germany Collection! ;-)

Yay! Free topcoat!
Straight out of work I went to the store at the central station, because they are opened outside of office hours plus they have OPI. Faced with all the prettiness, I couldn't decide between German-icure by OPI and Schnapps Out of It!. I love the mini collections by OPI but I wasn't too impressed with the mini's for this Germany Collection.

So, ignoring my weeping wallet, I decided to just get both polishes. After all, 1+1=Unity ;-)

I got a great suprise at the register:  they had a promotion 'Buy 2, get a free topcoat' so YAY! Free full size OPI topcoat.

Stamped!

I spent much of the weekend playing with them, and I was amazed at how great they look stamped! I have never ever stamped anything near this well.

Sorry, no clean up, I was too excited to try something new ;-)

So after playing for a bit, this is what I went with for the rest of the weekend:

Proper mani
Two pures, two gradients and a drip.
German-icure is such a rich colour, it's so pretty <3. It looked pretty good after one layer but I went for two just to be sure. Here is a close up:

Oooh, shiny

Schnapps Out of It! is a great colour for work I would say, not too bold but still funky.

I used: OPI German-icure by OPI, OPI Schnapps Out of It!

Rainy Sunrise

First, let me apologize for the quality of todays picture. It turned out darker than expected and I didn't check it before removing the polish *facepalm*.

Inspired by a rainy sunrise, let me present to you:

Rainy sunrise, click to enlarge

It's not that obvious, unfortunately, but it is a gradient of bronze, pale blue, grey and dark grey. I leave the house every morning at 7, so now that it's autumn, it's still dark out and quite often rainy. I enjoy looking out the windows and admire the early morning sights =)

This particular sight was one morning, and I saw a bird perched on a fence on top of a building. The silhouette was actually not this dark, but I decided to give the black silhouette thing another try after I loved the Sunset in Gizeh mani so much!

I used: Essie Blanc, Essence pigments Smell the Caramel (more about these pigments soon!), Rimmel Grey Matter, Essie Licorice

Sunset in Gizeh

This mani is my homage to Egypt! It is such a magical country, I just love going there.
Pictured is a sunset behind de pyramids at Gizeh. Next time I'll try a camel!

I edited the right hand ring finger into the picture because it is slightly different from the left hand one.

This was my first silhouette which was kind of daunting. However, it was quite alright, you need mainly patience to do this.

If you have never done a gradient before, check out this tutorial and you'll be making the prettiest gradients in no time!

I used: Essie Allure ('bare' nails),  NYC Lexington Yellow, OPI Formidably Orange, l'Oréal Color Riche 401 Rouge Pin Up, drug store brand black polish, OPI top coat

Festival nails: Copper Glitter Gradient

A few days delayed but here they are- my festival nails! With my Queen B ;-)

Yay for glitter!

The picture really doesn't do it justice.
I was a bit unsure at first because I felt the copper tint made my nails look sickly. However, I got used to it quickly =)

Copper'ize me is just the prettiest. It's a mainly copper glitter with specks of yellow, white, magenta, red, blue and green. Here's a close up so you can see all the different colours of glitter that are in there:
How many colours can you find?

EURO 2012 Nails

So EURO 2012 is in full swing and boy is this an exciting tournament! I love football so I'm watching quite a few games. We actually have an office pool so it's a load of fun!

I started the tournament with an orange mani, inspired by the Dutch team. This is their jersey and a very angry looking Rafael van der Vaart.

If you ask me, orange isn't the easiest colour. I find it can look tacky, especially if you have longer nails. But who cares, it's EURO 2012! I even decided to spice things up by adding a little glitter gradient. I love this orange colour (Watch out! by Essence) because it has a gold shimmer. I would have to say the flash picture is more true to life than the daylight picture.

Funny how my fingers look slimmer and longer in the flash picture! My nails have been growing like crazy lately, lucky me :-)

Gradient Nails: Sky

So I tried the gradient nails (I just loved the colour combo over at The Nailasaurus and used that tutorial) with a bit of white and pale blue. To be honest, I tried two shades of pink first but it was a mess.

Try to not see these babies!

Sorry about the small picture, it's just that it looks terrible up close! I got quite some compliments but I already have new polish on my nails as I was just too unsure.

I have found that cutting the sponges to fit your nails makes it easier, as I kept overestimating the length and then the gradient was too long :-( I'm excited to try this gradient thing again!

I used: Essence Stampy Polish white (base), Miss Sporty Et voilà! Nail tip whitener, Rimmel 420 Aqua Cool, Essence Gel Look topcoat
