Super Easy Nail Art: Brick Lane Gradient

Happy Monday pretties! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Another super easy mani for you today. Super easy but quite fetching, I think!
I have written about Nails Inc Brick Lane before. I love how easy it is to change your entire mani with just a splash of it. For this look I first did a gradient of grey and blue, then added one coat of Brick Lane. I love this look! I think it's good all year round.

Halloween NAC Day 4: Gothic

Pretties! Second post of the day! Prompt 4 of the Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Gothic. This was pretty difficult, because when I think 'gothic' I think black but there's nothing really nail artsy about black nails.

So. Here's what I came up with as I went:

Base: Nails Inc Tate. My first ever Nails Inc polish. My first ever not-drugstore brand, even. It's quite old but still lush <3
Black: Invogue Black Magic (concrete finish)
Silver: Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace
Matte topcoat on her index finger is not really dramatic, unfortunately

My mum was kind enough to let me do this manicure on her nails. Brave!

Right. That's it for today! Check back tomorrow for Day 5: Trick or Treat. I'm off now to check out the other participants:

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag

Hi pretties! Time for another easy mani.

This wasn't supposed to be an easy mani. As I mentioned in this post, we went to a gaming exhibition last weekend so I really wanted to do an Assassin's Creed: Black Flag mani for the occassion. Because I had next to no time at all, I decided to just paint the logo on my thumb and add some Kiss studs since I hadn't done any mani's with studs recently.
This logo:

Pretty cool, huh? But, there came a moment when the studs were sticking, polish was drying and I realised I was running out of time for the thumbs. Luckily, I remembered this post by Varnished Valkyrie and realised I hadn't used my Nails Inc skulls yet!

So it turned into a bit of a bad ass rock mani rather than a Assassin's Creed-specific mani.
But I tell you, these skulls are great. You can't really tell from the pictures but there are nine Swarovski crystals in the 'forehead' part of the skull. So glam!

I used: nailgirls white #1, Essie Licorice, Nails Inc skull, Kiss studs

#HePicksMyPolish September Challenge

Soooo, The Sparkle Queen came up with a cool challenge: #HePicksMyPolish.

Since I am always bugging my man to do my nails (he's a fantastic artist) but he refuses (it's not manly and all that), I thought this would be the perfect way to... Ease him into it! Ha! He agreed to do it, thought it was fun even. I was going to post this before the weekend but something very exciting came up (more to follow!) so it had to wait.

So. Step 1 was easy. Since all my polishes are on display in our living room!

Step 2. My guy is always home before I am. He texted me to say the three polishes were waiting for me when I got home. He also cooked for me before he left for band practice. It was a good night!
He picked a Cybele polish that is a dupe for OPI Tomorrow Never Dies (if you ask me), Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace and Bourjois Lime Catwalk.

Step 3. Well, here is the result:
Easy Nail Art Challenge
I have to say, when I first saw the polishes, I wasn't sure how I was going to pull it off. The Cybele and Nails Inc were perfect together, but to add the Bourjois? Gasp.

Step 4. Well, I shared here. I also shared in the Facebook group. Check it out!

Step 5. The polishes are listed in Step two. He= my man. Even though he dumped my ass at the beginning of summer, he soon realised his life sucks without me, so HA!
Yeah that's just me acting all tough. I am thankful everyday that he came to his senses and we can make each other happy again.
Free tip for those of you who are in a relationship: communication, communication, communication.

I really enjoyed this challenge. Even though it's almost October, I am definitely going to be doing this again. The next 'he' might be my nephew, I'm sure he'd be honoured!

Supersoaker nails

WHOOP WHOOP! Kings of Leon have released a new single. So obviously I *had* to celebrate with a mani =) I did this real quickly, as in, within one minute. I don't even remember why I was in such a hurry, hmm.

This is the cover for the single (do singles even have covers? Or should I say 'this is the illustration your MP3 player will display'?):

Go buy it nooooow! =)

I did this mani, well, accent nail:

Supersoaker nails manicure
Summer with KoL!

Again, I did this very quickly and I also took the picture without checking it on the computer, so it's not as clear as I would like. Now I'm thinking I should have done a gradient as well, orange-yellow-mint, like the word supersoaker in the pic.
Anyway, I like that nobody know what it means and I can still get my fangirl out ;-)

When was the last time you did 'fan'-nails? Am I too old, at 30? =(

NOTD: Sprinkle Drip

Another quick NOTD, pretties. I promise I will be back soon! I have a bunch of untrieds, just a lack of inspiration right now. It's so HOT out!

Here's a drip mani using Nails Inc Pudding Lane. I got this polish at BeautyBay. I love drip manis because they add instant spice to your nails without being too *IN YOUR FACE*.

I love this polish. I'm sure you'll be seeing more if it on this blog =)

NOTD: Cambridge Terrace French

My polishes are still sitting in a box. This means I haven't had to move out yet, but it also means it hasn't been okay to unpack them. Yet.
I haven't been up to doing any nail real art yet. I have even gone bare for a few days, gasp!

Here's a quick NOTD. Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace over a coat of OPI Nail Envy (I LOVE this stuff!) and an accent of Daily Lacquer Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice.

GA Rox: Velvet Diamonds Nail Art

So sorry you guys, I know I haven't been posting or doing great nail art. Apart from my KoL mani =)
You can read the reason after the break at the bottom of this post.

Thankfully my sister Rox did a mani using some of my polishes =D

The blue is a Misslyn Velvet Diamonds polish which I haven't tried yet, can't wait to see the effect and how it compares to other brands.

Misslyn is a new brand for me. Just the Velvet Diamonds collection boasts eight colours. I also picked up some stud stickers and nail art stickers which I will hopefully use and review soon.

Rox used: Misslyn Velvet Diamonds 85 Royal Blue, Rimmel Rain Rain Go Away, Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace.

NOTD: Rock Pink

First off, let me apologize. The next couple of posts will have dreadful pictures =( I'll just make them small ;-)

This is a hot pink mani with some added Rock&Roll. It's not what I am sporting right now, I'm slightly behind. This means there is a lot more to come =D
Click to enlarge. If you must...

As you may remember, I got Nails Inc Bling it On Rebel set during Sephora's clear out sale, so I added a leather accent nail, a stud and a crystal. This all came in the set.

For the index finger, I tried a gradient with NYC Rock Muse. Didn't really work out.

I have to say, I was amazed by the lasting power of the Nails Inc glue that came with the set. Whereas the leather polish chipped within hours, the studs lasted no less than a week! I had to incorporate them in all my manis.

I made the leather polish last longer by doing a mini sandwich (one coat leather, one coat top coat, two coats leather). So neat when little tricks like that work out!

Thank you for keeping following my blog even now there is not a lot of nail art going on. I promise that after the peak season is over, I'll get back to it! Even if it's just for me, I love doing challenges and I miss it. So don't give up on me just yet.

NOTD: Teal Loves Aluminum

Pretties,

a while back I swapped a Nails Inc polish. Then, a week or so after, Sephora had their big closing sale where one of the polishes I picked up was OPI Ski Teal We Drop. Man, is that the hardest polish name or what?! Anyway. I have finally gotten around to combining them in a quick and easy manicure =)

Please note the teal reflecting on my ring finger! Cambridge Terrace is insane, shiny like a mirror <3

Exit Sephora

Sooooo! All Sephora's are closing, nationwide. No laughing matter. However, it also means MAJOR CLEAN OUT SALES! Whoooop! =)

Sunday was the last day Sephora in our city was opened. So, when we were meeting friends for lunch in the city centre, I asked My Geek if we could go check out Sephora, to see if it was worth the hassle to go on Sunday or if everything had been cleared out already. He agreed, we had a great lunch with our friends, went for a few beers with them, dropped them off at their parking spot and continued on to Sephora.

I have never seen a store so empty. I kept looking around corners, wide eyed, just to discover an empty display. Until I stumbled upon the OPI + Nails Inc display!

Both OPI and Nails Inc had no special promotions going on =( Only buy three, get 30% off. Which is probably why the display was still pretty much full while all the other displays were empty.
I discovered a Nails Inc Leather Effect set later that was 50% off, WHOOP! Next to it were some Ciaté sets so I grabbed one of those as well.

Anyway. The OPI display. They had so many polishes I thought were not for sale anymore! Polishes from collections like James Bond, Spiderman, Germany, Holland, and most shocking of all: they had about twenty Black Spotted. Honestly. I can't tell you how long I've checked every OPI display I came across, only to accept that it really was only part of the Spiderman collection in French Sephora stores. And then here it was! Twenty bottles.

So, I was grabbing polishes, holding them up in the light, asking My Geek what he thought of them. He kept giving me feedback, suggesting other colours and saying 'just buy it, it's your hobby, this is a good deal'. I told him 'you have no idea what an OPI costs, do you?' and he looked at the display, and called out the price incredulously. Lol! He then composed himself and told me to choose between the two blue OPIs in our basket. No problem ;-)

I still had a pretty big stash in our basket and prepared myself for a big shock at check-out ;-) Luckily we had just been given a summer bonus at work! The lady at the register looked proper bored and actually made me feel like less of a hoarder. She gave me a ton of freebies! A perfume sample, a set of two (ugly) bracelets, Fendi buttons, a Clinique sample and ten (!) Sephora toner samples.

OPI Deutsch You Want Me, OPI Black Spotted, OPI Unfor-Greta-bly Blue, Nails Inc Brick Lane Graffiti, Nails Inc Soho Magnetic, Nails Inc Stonehenge concrete finish, Nails Inc Bling It On: Rebel kit, Ciaté Velvet Mani Blue Suede.

Obviously, I gave My Geek a big fat smack on the lips and said I needed to take him polish shopping after beers more often ;-) Our friends have already agreed to more beers ;-)

Can't wait to try all these babies!

Aluminum Mix

Hello again my lovely followers,

Recently I became a member of a beauty swap group on Facebook. I think it's a fantastic initiative!

My first swap was with a girl that wanted a Mavala polish and a drugstore brand polish my sister had given me because she had three of them. So, pretty painless for me really! She sent me her swap list and I spotted Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace. Cambridge Terrace! The swap was completed and I was thrilled to receive this beauty of a polish <3

After just staring at it for two days (two days! And no chipping at all!) I had to do some nail art with it. So, here it is:

Base is two coats of Cambridge Terrace.
- Thumb is some free-hand heart-thingy
- Index is one coat of NYC Rock Muse
- Middle finger is a Bourjois sticker from the Pshiit set
- Ring finger is drug store brand crackle
- Pinky is stamping using an Essence plate and Essence Stampy Polish

You can really see how gorgeous Cambridge Terrace is on the middle finger <3 My Geek said it was aluminum!

Would you ever swap cosmetics online?
