Exit Sephora

Sooooo! All Sephora's are closing, nationwide. No laughing matter. However, it also means MAJOR CLEAN OUT SALES! Whoooop! =)

Sunday was the last day Sephora in our city was opened. So, when we were meeting friends for lunch in the city centre, I asked My Geek if we could go check out Sephora, to see if it was worth the hassle to go on Sunday or if everything had been cleared out already. He agreed, we had a great lunch with our friends, went for a few beers with them, dropped them off at their parking spot and continued on to Sephora.

I have never seen a store so empty. I kept looking around corners, wide eyed, just to discover an empty display. Until I stumbled upon the OPI + Nails Inc display!

Both OPI and Nails Inc had no special promotions going on =( Only buy three, get 30% off. Which is probably why the display was still pretty much full while all the other displays were empty.
I discovered a Nails Inc Leather Effect set later that was 50% off, WHOOP! Next to it were some Ciaté sets so I grabbed one of those as well.

Anyway. The OPI display. They had so many polishes I thought were not for sale anymore! Polishes from collections like James Bond, Spiderman, Germany, Holland, and most shocking of all: they had about twenty Black Spotted. Honestly. I can't tell you how long I've checked every OPI display I came across, only to accept that it really was only part of the Spiderman collection in French Sephora stores. And then here it was! Twenty bottles.

So, I was grabbing polishes, holding them up in the light, asking My Geek what he thought of them. He kept giving me feedback, suggesting other colours and saying 'just buy it, it's your hobby, this is a good deal'. I told him 'you have no idea what an OPI costs, do you?' and he looked at the display, and called out the price incredulously. Lol! He then composed himself and told me to choose between the two blue OPIs in our basket. No problem ;-)

I still had a pretty big stash in our basket and prepared myself for a big shock at check-out ;-) Luckily we had just been given a summer bonus at work! The lady at the register looked proper bored and actually made me feel like less of a hoarder. She gave me a ton of freebies! A perfume sample, a set of two (ugly) bracelets, Fendi buttons, a Clinique sample and ten (!) Sephora toner samples.

OPI Deutsch You Want Me, OPI Black Spotted, OPI Unfor-Greta-bly Blue, Nails Inc Brick Lane Graffiti, Nails Inc Soho Magnetic, Nails Inc Stonehenge concrete finish, Nails Inc Bling It On: Rebel kit, Ciaté Velvet Mani Blue Suede.

Obviously, I gave My Geek a big fat smack on the lips and said I needed to take him polish shopping after beers more often ;-) Our friends have already agreed to more beers ;-)

Can't wait to try all these babies!

Stash update

Hello pretties!

As I said last week, it was time for a new Ribba. I bought two this time, one to fill and one spare. My Geek was not too thrilled hehe! However, he put it up almost right away <3

So, here's an updated picture:

I organize by colour, not brand. It's seldom that I think 'Oh, I'll grab an O.P.I' rather than 'Pink would be nice'.

The first Ribba (top left) is nudes, greiges, yellows, oranges, reds.

The second Ribba (top right) is pinks, purples, blues and greens.

The third Ribba (bottom left) is specials (colour changers, stampers, pigments, crackles...) and metallics.

I filled the fourth Ribba with base coats, top coats and glitters. Also, my Essie Licorice is on this Ribba, it just didn't fit anywhere else.

I have some polishes not in the Ribba's. These are sets I keep boxed. Here you can once again see Ezio checking it out ;-)

I also have a small box for things nail art related. It was labeled 'sewing accessories' but it works perfectly. In the little drawer-thingy I keep my dotting tools etc, in the big compartment I keep artificial nails, sharpies, zip bags, stickers... Things like that.
I made myself count the polishes as I was organizing them. The total comes to *drum rolls*... 120. That's not too bad, I'd say.

Clean up

No mani, just pictures of my stashhh! We went to Ikea (<3) last weekend and bought three Ribba's.
My Geek thought that was 2 plus 1 spare and that I was joking when I said I probably needed four now, five by the end of the year. Bahaha!

Anyway, he got to putting them up straight away and I got to filling them (sorted by colour and one for 'other' ie topcoat, base coat, crackles, glitters). And get this: they are in the living room! Ha! I'm so happy <3
I don't like the much-favoured Helmers for the simple reason that I want to see my polish. I love to just look at them and pick a colour (or two, or three...). You might say 'just wait till you have enough polishes to fill a Helmer' but you'd be surprised at how many polishes these three Ribba's hold right now! Last count was 200, but I haven't counted in weeks. This is a tactical decision, ignorance is bliss ;-)

Work in progress

These two... cupboards? Racks? Were originally upright next to each other with some space in between. My polishes were on top of the right in one big heap and I am juuuust too short to see the polishes at the back.
So we turned one of them on its side and voilà, plenty of room for polish!

I was going to take this as an opportunity to throw out some polishes that I knew had gone gooey. I ended up throwing out only Rimmel Coralicious and Essence Cool and the Gang. Man, I loved them both but they were three years old by now and had gone gloopy. *sad face* I was especially hesitant to chuck Cool and the Gang as Essence have since changed their entire series. Oh well. I wanted to go out and replace Coralicious, but then I remembered I'm on a no-buy =(

Adding a filter, look at how artistic I am

You can just see my mini editions at the bottom here (OPI Spiderman, OPI Outrageous Neons, Urban Decay Summer of Love, a crackle set).

Yeah, another filter, just because! ;-)
So far I'm loving it, and even my Geek has said it's an improvement to the room =) So, it's a keeper!
