Update and St Patrick's Day nails!

Hey guys, remember me? Once again, I fell off the face of the Earth! Or something like that...

Actually, these past few months I have been busy setting up my own indie nail polish brand. I'm so excited!
So, does this mean I'm giving up nail art? No! As soon as I'm done with things like setting up my Etsy store, I will have more time to do my nails. Unless my brand becomes insanely succesfull overnight, which I don't expect ;-)
I won't be posting about my polishes here, so if you want to know more about my brand and take a look behind the scenes, I will be posting links to Instagram, Facebook and the Etsy store as soon as they are up and running.

Mani
Now that that's out of the way, here is another easy mani for you. It was my St Patrick's Day mani. And it didn't work out quite as I had expected =(

For Christmas I got Essie Shake Your $$ Makers. A glorious green in the bottle. But on the nail? It underwhelms.

Shake Your $$ Makers is marketed as a matte neon green. It reminded me of... I don't know. Circuit boards. It's impossible to not have a VNL with this polish. For the mani below, I used four coats. And then I ran out of patience, so I continued with the other nails.

I used: Essie Shake Your $$ Makers, Essence A Piece of Forever, Darling Diva Pot o'Gold, Kiss nail stud.

Thanks for sticking around!

Super Easy Nail Art: Brick Lane Gradient

Happy Monday pretties! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Another super easy mani for you today. Super easy but quite fetching, I think!
I have written about Nails Inc Brick Lane before. I love how easy it is to change your entire mani with just a splash of it. For this look I first did a gradient of grey and blue, then added one coat of Brick Lane. I love this look! I think it's good all year round.

I used: Rimmel Grey Matter, OPI Unfor-Greta-bly Blue, Nails Inc Brick Lane

Halloween NAC Day 4: Gothic

Pretties! Second post of the day! Prompt 4 of the Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Gothic. This was pretty difficult, because when I think 'gothic' I think black but there's nothing really nail artsy about black nails.

So. Here's what I came up with as I went:

Base: Nails Inc Tate. My first ever Nails Inc polish. My first ever not-drugstore brand, even. It's quite old but still lush <3
Black: Invogue Black Magic (concrete finish)
Silver: Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace
Matte topcoat on her index finger is not really dramatic, unfortunately

My mum was kind enough to let me do this manicure on her nails. Brave!

Right. That's it for today! Check back tomorrow for Day 5: Trick or Treat. I'm off now to check out the other participants:

Halloween NAC Day 3: Things That Go BUMP in The Night

Yeah, I know I'm late again =( I visited my family for a few days so I didn't get around to posting. I will be catching up today (two posts) so I expect to be back on schedule for tomorrow's post. Yay!

Day Three meant Things That Go BUMP in the night. Oh boy. When I googled that phrase, I came across the freakiest link ever. Here it is, if you're up for some scares, goosebumps and stuff.

For this mani I really wanted to try Zom-Body to Love, the glow in the dark polish by OPI that came with the Spookettes set. However, the effect was so weak that I had to change my plans :-( I know the polish is two years old so I was probably expecting too much of it. So here's what I did after the first attempt underwhelmed.

The pic is a bit dull, I'm not sure why.

For the thumb and pinky I did two coats of Darling Diva Cougar followed by two coats of Darling Diva Pot o 'Gold. I added eyes on the thumb but now I think it was too much.
For the pointer finger I did something is saw at Kitty's Painted Claws. I just received Pumpkin Queen by Darling Diva (can you tell I love Darling Diva?!) so I added that over one coat of Essie Licorice, followed by a matte topcoat.
Middle and ring finger are OPI Alpine Snow with DDP Cougar and DDP Pot o 'Gold (middle) Essie Licorice (ring).

So this is my mani for Day Three. I couldn't stop staring at my thumb and pinky! Pot o'Gold is fantastic. It looks just like scales! The gold hexes are holo <3

Purple Passion

Pretties, it's time for another super easy nail art!

Thumb: Hema purple shimmer polish & Nails Inc Graffiti Brick Lane
Index: gradient of Hema purple shimmer polish and Hema pale purple holo
Middle: Hema pale purple holo
Ring: gradient of both Hema polishes, topped with Brick Lane
Pinky: reverse gradient of both Hema polishes

This mani was done within 5 minutes (the Hema polishes dry really quickly) and the effect is quite dramatic!

This is the darker, not holo purple polish I used. It was a gift from friends =)

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag

Hi pretties! Time for another easy mani.

This wasn't supposed to be an easy mani. As I mentioned in this post, we went to a gaming exhibition last weekend so I really wanted to do an Assassin's Creed: Black Flag mani for the occassion. Because I had next to no time at all, I decided to just paint the logo on my thumb and add some Kiss studs since I hadn't done any mani's with studs recently.
This logo:

Pretty cool, huh? But, there came a moment when the studs were sticking, polish was drying and I realised I was running out of time for the thumbs. Luckily, I remembered this post by Varnished Valkyrie and realised I hadn't used my Nails Inc skulls yet!

So it turned into a bit of a bad ass rock mani rather than a Assassin's Creed-specific mani.
But I tell you, these skulls are great. You can't really tell from the pictures but there are nine Swarovski crystals in the 'forehead' part of the skull. So glam!

I used: nailgirls white #1, Essie Licorice, Nails Inc skull, Kiss studs

#HePicksMyPolish September Challenge

Soooo, The Sparkle Queen came up with a cool challenge: #HePicksMyPolish.

Since I am always bugging my man to do my nails (he's a fantastic artist) but he refuses (it's not manly and all that), I thought this would be the perfect way to... Ease him into it! Ha! He agreed to do it, thought it was fun even. I was going to post this before the weekend but something very exciting came up (more to follow!) so it had to wait.

So. Step 1 was easy. Since all my polishes are on display in our living room!

Step 2. My guy is always home before I am. He texted me to say the three polishes were waiting for me when I got home. He also cooked for me before he left for band practice. It was a good night!
He picked a Cybele polish that is a dupe for OPI Tomorrow Never Dies (if you ask me), Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace and Bourjois Lime Catwalk.

Step 3. Well, here is the result:
Easy Nail Art Challenge
I have to say, when I first saw the polishes, I wasn't sure how I was going to pull it off. The Cybele and Nails Inc were perfect together, but to add the Bourjois? Gasp.

Step 4. Well, I shared here. I also shared in the Facebook group. Check it out!

Step 5. The polishes are listed in Step two. He= my man. Even though he dumped my ass at the beginning of summer, he soon realised his life sucks without me, so HA!
Yeah that's just me acting all tough. I am thankful everyday that he came to his senses and we can make each other happy again.
Free tip for those of you who are in a relationship: communication, communication, communication.

I really enjoyed this challenge. Even though it's almost October, I am definitely going to be doing this again. The next 'he' might be my nephew, I'm sure he'd be honoured!

Super Easy Nail Art: China Glaze Shape Shifter

Today I bring you another polish I acquired through a beauty swap on Facebook. It's the magnificent China Glaze Shape Shifter. It is one of their Tranzitions polishes. I had been looking for it online, decided not to buy and then just a few days later it popped up on a swap list. So it was just meant to be =)
You can see the difference in colour between my thumb and the other fingers. My thumb is without top coat, the others with. This causes the change in colour - or tranzition, I suppose.

Check out this pic from Polish Insomniac that really does the polish more justice:

I really love both colours, and it is my only China Glaze polish so far, so I'm pleased.

A Leopard and his Spots

Pretties,

slowly but surely I am finding my way back to blogging. Thank you so much for sticking by me. I'm planning a giveaway as soon as I'm really back to business!

For this mani I finally used my OPI Black Spotted that I got in the Sephora clear out. I had been struggling to find a good use for it. Now, inspired by the cat stickers that I got from Etsy, a leopard print came to mind! Nothing too spectacular. But I'm getting there =)

I have no idea what happened to the Black Spotted on my index finger. Weird.
I used: Essence A Piece of Forever, OPI Black Spotted, vinyl sticker

NOTD: Sprinkle Drip

Another quick NOTD, pretties. I promise I will be back soon! I have a bunch of untrieds, just a lack of inspiration right now. It's so HOT out!

Here's a drip mani using Nails Inc Pudding Lane. I got this polish at BeautyBay. I love drip manis because they add instant spice to your nails without being too *IN YOUR FACE*.

I love this polish. I'm sure you'll be seeing more if it on this blog =)

NOTD: Cambridge Terrace French

My polishes are still sitting in a box. This means I haven't had to move out yet, but it also means it hasn't been okay to unpack them. Yet.
I haven't been up to doing any nail real art yet. I have even gone bare for a few days, gasp!

Here's a quick NOTD. Nails Inc Cambridge Terrace over a coat of OPI Nail Envy (I LOVE this stuff!) and an accent of Daily Lacquer Sugar, Spice and Everything Nice.

Festival Nails, yup, again =)

Nobody forget that Google Reader will be no more as of later this week! How will you keep following blogs? You can follow mine through Google Friend Connect or Bloglovin.

Last week I was working at a festival in France. It meant I had to go for a mani that would last me a few days and would be funky enough for a festival. I went for black combined with a Mavala polish I got from a swap on Facebook.

Here's a quick photo I took during a short break.

I used: Essie Licorice, Mavala Sparkling Bronze

NOTD: Rock Pink

First off, let me apologize. The next couple of posts will have dreadful pictures =( I'll just make them small ;-)

This is a hot pink mani with some added Rock&Roll. It's not what I am sporting right now, I'm slightly behind. This means there is a lot more to come =D
Click to enlarge. If you must...

As you may remember, I got Nails Inc Bling it On Rebel set during Sephora's clear out sale, so I added a leather accent nail, a stud and a crystal. This all came in the set.

For the index finger, I tried a gradient with NYC Rock Muse. Didn't really work out.

I have to say, I was amazed by the lasting power of the Nails Inc glue that came with the set. Whereas the leather polish chipped within hours, the studs lasted no less than a week! I had to incorporate them in all my manis.

I made the leather polish last longer by doing a mini sandwich (one coat leather, one coat top coat, two coats leather). So neat when little tricks like that work out!

Thank you for keeping following my blog even now there is not a lot of nail art going on. I promise that after the peak season is over, I'll get back to it! Even if it's just for me, I love doing challenges and I miss it. So don't give up on me just yet.

NOTD: Teal Loves Aluminum

Pretties,

a while back I swapped a Nails Inc polish. Then, a week or so after, Sephora had their big closing sale where one of the polishes I picked up was OPI Ski Teal We Drop. Man, is that the hardest polish name or what?! Anyway. I have finally gotten around to combining them in a quick and easy manicure =)

Please note the teal reflecting on my ring finger! Cambridge Terrace is insane, shiny like a mirror <3

NOTD: Abstract Sushi Mani

Pretties,

if you had to name three colours that come to mind when you think of 'sushi', which colours would you choose?

For me, it would be black for the nori, white for the rice and of course green for the wasabi. Well, maybe brown for the soy sauce, which I love love love, but let's just go with the above three.

I present to you: Abstract Sushi Nails!

Banana Confetti

Yikes! Another hiatus, so sorry!

Last weekend it was brought to my attention that a well-known webshop had a promotion where you bought 4 Essie and/or L'Oréal products and you received a 40% discount. I started filling my basket right away, but then changed my mind and thought four polishes was just too much. But the next day I realised- who was I kidding? Four polishes is nothing! Hehe. So, I bought one Essie and one l'Oréal and got two l'Oréal polishes for free <3

So, here are two of my purchases: Banana Split and Confetti <3

Minty Fresh Neon Cat

Pretties,

with this mani I tried to scare away winter so it would finally be spring here. No luck so far.

The ingredients for a happy 'buh-bye winter, hello spring!' mani can obviously only be minty green, neon pink, studs and cats. Right? So here it is, my Mint Fresh Neon Cat:

My hands are so dry in this pic =(

The triangle I made with stencils from the Bourjois/Pshiiit set.
The studs are red studs by Kiss that I wrote about here. I just painted them with the pink polish before sticking them on my nails =D

By the way I am loving these pastel skittles that keep popping up in my blog list! For example this one by Captivating Claws. It's a guest post at ChrissyAi. I think I'll probably do something similar for Easter =)

I used: Bell Air Flow 712, Urban Decay Woodstock, cat sticker and stencils from Bourjois Pshiit nail art kit, studs by Kiss (painted pink, originally red)

Summer Fruits

Pretties!

I don't know about you, but I am loving the fact that the sun is up by the time my alarm goes off, and sometimes is still up when I get home. Not seeing any daylight except through the office windows is so depressing!

So to celebrate the days getting longer, here's a summery, fruity mani.

Claires nail art fruit fimo
Fruity nail art
I threw out Essie Blanc as no amount of polish thinner was rescueing it. This is my first mani with a Hema white polish.
The fruit is from a Claires set. They come in a wheel. Honestly, Claires has so much nail stuff these days!

Claires.com

Claires.com
I used nail glue to attach the fruit to my nails. It worked like a charm. However, the apple snapped in half after about two hours =(

All in all, it was a bright mani that cheerep me up every time I looked at it. So I will most certainly be using these fruit slices again.

I used: Hema white, Claire's fimo fruit, Essence nail glue
